Republic/Allied Waste representative Dan Winters was present at the March 4, 2013 Village Board meeting to do a presentation on a new Curbside Recycling Program they are offering.

Allied will provide one separate 90 gallon cart/container for single stream recycle collection to each household in the Village of Colfax. If the residents of the Village find that they have more recycling than the one container holds if you call another container will be delivered to you. The recycle will be picked up once a month on a separate day from our regular garbage pickup.

Area Municipalities that already have this program are: Arrowsmith, Anchor, Cooksville, Ellsworth, Lexington, and Heyworth. Mr. Winters reported an average increase in recycling volume of 30 - 40% with this program.
