Water & Sewer Committee
Monday, August 15, 2022
7:00 p.m.
(Morefield, Stephenson, Edwards)
AGENDA
1. Call to order.
2. Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Farnsworth Group (Zach Knight and Shane Niedzwecki) will make a report to the committee about a meeting on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, they had with Josh Hereford and Nick Sandage about the sewer problems the Village experienced during our heavy rain event on July 23, 2022.
A. Collection System Issues – We will discuss the main issue with an overloaded sewer system:
1. Inflow and infiltration (I & I) of stormwater into the sewer system through cracks in the pipe joints and manholes.
2. Residential plumbing issues like basement drains and sump pump tie-ins to the sewer system.
3. Lift Station Bypass Pumping – We will discuss a preliminary design narrative showing a proposed dedicated high flow force-main that the portable pump will utilize to pump excess flow (during weather events or lift station maintenance) from the current lift station to the wastewater treatment plant. This plan will include a formal proposal and estimated engineering cost associated with the project.
This discussion will include addressing the short-term plan as well as the development of a long-term plan including an I & I Study to identify and prioritize maintenance projects in the collection system to reduce or eliminate some of the problem areas.
B. Consideration of Additional Services for the Dualator Project of shop drawing review, construction observation and coordination which will delineate the scope and fee.
C. Preliminary review of the design and bidding of the Village of Colfax Elevated Tank Project for 2023.
4. Additional topics.
5. Adjournment.
