TRUSTEE DAVID RATHKE, CHAIRMAN OF THE POLICE AND LIQUOR COMMITTEE, REPORTED THAT THE ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, 2015 FOR THE COLFAX POLICE DEPARTMENT IS IN YOUR FOLDERS.
DAVE REPORTED ON THE POLICE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 5, 2015 AT 6:30 P.M. PRIOR TO THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING. DAVE REPORTED THAT THE COMMITTEE WILL MEETING AGAIN NEXT MONDAY EVENING TO INTERVIEW THE THREE APPLICANTS FOR PART-TIME POLICE OFFICERS.
POLICE CHIEF MICHAEL SCOTT REPORTED ON THE POLICE OFFICERS. MIKE REPORTED THAT HE RECEIVES REGULAR UPDATES FROM THE POLICE ACADEMY AND KELLY GORDON IS DOING VERY WELL. HE SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO ON THE STREETS AFTER HE COMPLETES THE TRAINING.
MIKE REPORTED ON THE FINDINGS OF THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER'S REPORT FOR THE FORMER HARDWARE STORE BUILDING AT 116 EAST MAIN STREET. THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER RULED IT A DANGEROUS BUILDING AND ADVISED THE VILLAGE TO BLOCK OFF THE SIDEWALK AND PARKING SPACES IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. MIKE REPORTED SENDING A COPY OF THE LETTER FROM THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER AND A LETTER FROM THE VILLAGE AND AN ORDINANCE VIOLATION TO THE OWNER, HARLEY DANIEL WITH A DEMAND TO MAKE IT A SAFE BUILDING. MIKE HAS HEARD NOTHING FROM MR. DANIEL.
TRUSTEE DAVID RATHKE REPORTED THAT IT HAS BEEN BUDGETED FOR A NEW SQUAD CAR AND HAVE BEEN HAVING TO PUT SOME REPAIRS INTO THE OLD SQUAD CAR. MIKE WOULD LIKE TO GO AHEAD BEFORE WINTER AND PURCHASE THE NEW SQUAD CAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD BE A 2015 FORD INTERCEPTOR SUV WHICH IS AN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE. MIKE STATED THAT THE TOTAL PACKAGE PRICE WITH SOME POLICE EQUIPMENT AND WIRING ALREADY INSTALLED WOULD BE $29,010.00.
TRUSTEE DAVID RATHKE MADE A MOTION TO PURCHASE A NEW 2015 FORD INTERCEPTOR SUV ALL WHEEL DRIVE SQUAD CAR POLICE PACKAGE AND TRADE IN THE 2011 FORD CROWN VIC FOR A PACKAGE PRICE OF $29,010. TRUSTEE RICK VANCE SECONDED THE MOTION. VOTE: RICK VANCE - AYE; DAVID RATHKE - AYE; JASON PIERCE - AYE; CAROL STEPHENSON - AYE; LONNIE MEINER - AYE; KELLY GRADERT - AYE; MOTION CARRIED.
TRUSTEE RICK VANCE, CHAIRMAN OF THE STREETS AND LIGHTS COMMITTEE, LOOKED INTO THE CURB ON MAIN STREET AND CENTER STREET EAST TO THE DRIVEWAY.
RICK REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A NINETY-TWO (92) YEAR OLD LADY THAT TRIPPED OVER THE LIP ON THE SIDEWALK AND FELL. PUBLIC WORKS BRIAN HEREFORD STATED THE ESTIMATE FOR 235 FEET OF CONCRETE WOULD BE $5,400.00.
BRIAN REPORTED THAT HE IS WAITING ON THE INSULATION TO BE BLOWN IN - EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE SHED IS DONE.
BRIAN REPORTED THAT THE SIDEWALK ON CENTER STREET BY FINCHAM INSURANCE AGENCY IS SINKING TOWARD THE BUILDING.
TRUSTEE LONNIE MEINER MADE A MOTION TO FIX THE SIDEWALK ON SOUTH CENTER STREET BY FINCHAM INSURANCE AGENCY SOUTH TO PIZZA PLACE AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $1,000.00. BRIAN REPORTED THAT THE ROOF AND FACADE ON THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING AT 112 WEST MAIN STREET IS PULLING LOOSE AT THE TOP. BRIAN BARRICADED THE SIDEWALK OFF SO THAT IT WOULDN'T FALL ON ANYONE WALKING BY.
VILLAGE CLERK NANCY KIPER REPORTED TO THE BOARD THAT SHE RECEIVED A MEMO FROM ITRON SUPPORT REGARDING THE MV-RS PROGRAM CURRENTLY USED FOR METER READING ON THE HANDHELD.
