Residents of Colfax,
In light of the precautions demanded by the COVID-19 national emergency, the Village of Colfax office will be closed to public access effective Thursday, March 19, 2020. Portia Vandegraft, Village Clerk, will still be working. She will be available via telephone (309) 723-3261, email at firstname.lastname@example.org or texting (309) 212-2775 between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Mayor Larry Dodds can be reached at the Village Office, by text or voicemail at (309) 660-7490 or by email (email@example.com).
Water payments will still be due on the 23rd of each month. You may use the drop box by the door at the Village Office, pay online at PAYGOV.US (3% fee or minimum of $1.00) or send it by U.S. Mail. During the national emergency, the Village of Colfax will not charge late fees or disconnect your water for nonpayment. However, you are still responsible for the water payments.
Josh Hereford, Superintendent of Maintenance will still perform the work necessary for the basic operations and service of the Village, limiting his direct contact with residents as much as possible. Brent Blair, Animal Control will respond only to dangerous animal calls and limit his public interaction.
The Colfax Police Department door will still be open for essential police services only. There will be no licensing of golf carts or issuance of peddler’s permits until further notice. Patrol Officers will use the office with a service window when they are in the police department during their shifts.
The April 6, 2020 meeting of the Board of Trustees will be postponed until a later date.
This is a challenging time for all of us. Please be patient and understanding of the changes that we are making in the best interest of everyone!
Larry K. Dodds, Mayor
